Terms of use

Who we are

These terms apply when you use employmentscreening.services. Binary Glyph Media, LLC, an Ohio limited liability company, operates the site. In these terms, “we,” “us,” and “our” mean Binary Glyph Media, LLC, and “you” means anyone who uses the site.

By using the site, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the site.

General information, not legal advice

The site explains the federal Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA) and state and local rules on employment background checks. It is general information, not legal advice.

  • We are not a law firm. Nothing on the site creates an attorney-client relationship.
  • We are not a consumer reporting agency, and we do not perform background checks.
  • We are not a government site.

Laws and agency guidance change. Each page shows the date we last reviewed it against its sources. Check that date, and check the law that applies to you, before you act. For advice about your own situation, talk to a lawyer.

The tools

The site has free tools, such as the employment verification letter tool and the pre-adverse action waiting period calculator. They run in your browser. What you type into them stays on your device and is not sent to us. Our privacy policy explains what we do collect.

A tool’s result depends on what you enter and on the rules we have reviewed. You are responsible for the result you use.

  • Letters. A letter from the letter tool is a draft. Check every fact against your records before you sign and send it.
  • Dates. The calculator gives a date under the rules it shows, counted the way it explains on the page. Where a law is silent, it uses the reading that gives the later date. Some things it cannot know can change the date: a holiday declared on short notice, a longer deadline in your own notice, or facts it does not ask about. Some rules also require a longer wait when the person responds. Check the date against the law before you decide.

No warranty

We provide the site, its content and its tools “as is” and “as available.” To the fullest extent the law allows, we make no warranty of any kind, express or implied. This includes any warranty of accuracy, completeness, merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. We do not promise that the site will be available, current or free of errors.

Limits on our liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for any lost profits, data or business, that come from your use of the site, its content or its tools. This applies even if we were told such damages were possible. Our total liability for any claim about the site is limited to $100.

Some places do not allow some of these limits. In those places, the limits apply as far as the law allows.

Your responsibility for your use

You agree to defend and hold us harmless from any claim that comes from your use of the site’s content or tools, or from your breach of these terms.

How you may use the site

You may:

  • use the tools for your own business, and use the letters you create there as your own
  • quote short parts of a page, with a link to the page

You may not:

  • copy or republish the site, a large part of it, or its tables and data as your own
  • collect the site’s content by automated means, except for search engines that index it under our robots.txt file
  • interfere with the site, its servers or its security
  • use the site to break the law, including the FCRA
  • present the site’s content as legal advice or as coming from a government source

Our content

We own the text, tables, data compilations and design of the site, except where a page credits another source. The site also uses open-source software and fonts under their own licenses. Statutes, regulations and government documents that we quote or link to belong to the public or to their owners.

Links to other sites

The site links to other websites, including government sources and, in some places, affiliate partners. We do not control those sites, and their own terms and privacy policies apply. Our affiliate disclosure explains affiliate links.

Governing law

Ohio law governs these terms, without regard to its conflict of laws rules. Any dispute about the site or these terms goes to the state or federal courts in Ohio, and you agree to their jurisdiction.

Changes to these terms

We may change these terms. When we do, we will update the date at the top of this page. If you use the site after a change, you agree to the changed terms.
